Fresh Ginger Tea (Whole30)
I had absolutely NO idea how simple it was to make beautiful, fresh, warm and spicy ginger tea! I've been buying tea bags for years until I went to Prague this Summer and discovered the simple solution.
I was in the Imperial Cafe in Prague and ordered a cup of fresh ginger tea. What came was so shockingly simple, I knew I couldn't wait to try it at home!
When my order came, they set down a pretty silver tea kettle with a tiny porcelain cup. I tipped the kettle's top open and found nothing but hot water and grated ginger!
Excited to try it, I quickly poured some of the clear yet cloudy liquid into my cup and enjoyed every warm, spicy sip. I did notice that each cup I poured was much stronger than the next: so I thought about making some at home and straining the grated ginger from the water after it steeped for a few minutes.
I wish I could share a "real" recipe with you-- but it's quite simple! I've been simply peeling a knob of fresh ginger, grating a bit into a mini kettle, pouring in hot water and straining it out after 3 minutes or so. Easy! And there's something so glamorous about it when you upgrade your usual mug for a pretty one with your own little tea kettle. And I love a little bit of glamour in the dog days of a Whole30! Hope you enjoy this one, friends-- -melissa
